Fail and a win!

Welp, I tried making a cart/dolly for the cab, which turned out to be a failure. The cart wheels I chose could not stand the weight of the cab. Very unsafe. 

So instead I placed the bed on the dolly, which the wheels can barely hold the weight of. Then I placed the frame on jack stands and used the car dollies to put the cab on. 

All in all, a fail and a win. 

I believe I will just bite the bullet and purchase an actual auto body dolly that is made for this. 

After church I’ll make a low dolly cart for the frame. That way it can be rolled out of the way. And then I’ll start working on the Tin Lizzy. 

Cab is off!

The process wasn’t as sketch as I thought it’d be. So glad I have a lift. The front two body mount bolts/bushings will probably need to be cut off as they did not want to budge. Luckily Tyler has removed the nuts a long time ago so all I had to do was push a button and the lift took her right up. 

Next step is to build some rolling body carts for the cab and bed. Need one for the doors to hang on as well. That will be the next update. 

Bed removal

Huge thanks to Tyler for helping me today. It was tricky, but we got the bed off and moved the cab/frame to under the lift. Will be using the lift to remove the cab. 

This weekend the cab should be removed. Between now and then I need to fab up some door carts. 

Will be taking every part, nut & bolt off this bad girl. Sanding, scrubbing, fixing and painting.

Big Booty Judy Dually

 I’ve recently acquired a 1984 Dodge D350. Super cool truck. Well, part of a truck. It only came with the body, minus the hood, and a frame. Which is perfect. I love frame off restorations. Starting from scratch. 

I’m still working on the details on how I want the end result to be, but below are a few of my ideas. 

Convert to a Dually

12v Cummins

47RH tranny

Two wheel drive

Air bags all around

The rest is still up in the air.
